Intermediate ArcGIS Online: Creating, Editing, and Managing Data
8 GISP Credit Hours
This course is intended for students who have some experience working in ArcGIS Online or who have taken our Introduction to ArcGIS Online class.
Students need to have their own computer hardware, an ArcGIS Online Creator user-type or higher, and a role of Publisher or higher assigned to their Creator user-type. Students will need to log into their organization’s AGOL account, so they need to have their AGOL URL and valid login available at the start of class.
- Module 1: Creating and Publishing Content
- Module 2: Uploading and Exporting Data
- Module 3: Viewing the Data
- Module 4: Editing and Managing Data
- Module 5: Creating and Managing Data Views
Course exercises will give you hands-on experience in publishing data using a large variety of methods and file types. Because spatial data comes in many forms, it is important to understand how to implement them in your ArcGIS Online environment. You will experience publishing data from Excel spreadsheets and shapefiles, as well as GeoJSON strings and pre-configured templates.
Ensuring feature layers meet the needs of your organization is important, which is why we also take you through the process of designing your own feature layer, modifying feature layer attributes and configuring precise settings and permissions.
You will also gain experience in editing your data and features through multiple processes in ArcGIS Online. The various paths for updating and modifying your data vary greatly in their capabilities, so we will cover when certain methods are more beneficial than others.
Lastly, we will lead you through creating and updating Feature Layer Views to help you diversify access and increase security over your data.

This course made it less intimidating to switch from ArcMap to ArcGIS Pro. So glad I attended.

I have attended a number of instructor-led training courses offered by ESRI, which are great in their own right, but the Mastering the ArcGIS Server JavaScript API course gets much more in-depth than they often do. I really liked the recommended reading, they helped expand the terms being covered in lecture to concrete examples that could be related back to my work more directly instead of just having the lecture and exercises alone. I learned a lot andwill recommend this and other GeoSpatial Training courses to the GIS'ers I know. Thanks for putting this course together and offering it.
