Google Earth and Google Maps Bundle

The Google Earth and Google Maps Bundle combines four of our most popular courses.

Introduction to Programming the Google Maps API – This is our entry level course for the Google Maps API, and is designed to enable you to build Google Maps applications for the web. You will learn how to create maps, add map controls for user interactions (zooming, and panning), programmatically alter the map extent, add points of interest to the map, create lines and polygons on a map, add custom icons, geocode addresses on the fly, read addresses from XML or KML files, calculate driving directions, view current traffic conditions, display a street view, integrate with Google Earth, and display aerial photography.

Advanced Google Maps API Programming – Building on the concepts learned in our Introduction to Programming the Google Maps API course, this course covers advanced concepts and techniques for the Maps API. We are going to cover a lot of ground in this course starting with the Google Maps Utility classes. Utility classes are special purposes objects including MarkerManager for managing large numbers of markers efficiently. MarkerClusterer also helps manage large concentrations of markers by aggregating neighboring markers into a single marker typically labeled with the number of markers represented by the symbol. Other utility classes that we will cover include ProgressBar for displaying progress information of long running functions, ExtInfoWindow for custom info windows, and many others. One of the more important and interesting topics in this class is the creation of your own custom data layers that can be draped on top of Google Maps. You’ll also learn how to determine your users current location through GPS or IP Address. Furthermore, we’ll explore some advanced geocoding techniques, learn how to read JSON format data files, examine performance considerations for your application, preview the new Google Maps 3, and wrap up with an overview of the Google Maps Data API and tips and tricks.

Mastering KML in Google Earth – KML is an XML based file format used to display geographic data in Google Earth, Google Maps, and Google Maps for Mobile. Data displayed in Google Earth is contained in KML files, and in our new e-learning course you will master the use of KML for creating advanced applications.

Real Time Google Earth Applications – In this course you will learn how to use the Google Earth element in conjunction with the Python programming language to dynamically push your GIS data to end users in the Google Earth display.

"I have attended a number of instructor lead  training courses offered by ESRI, which are great in their own right, but the Mastering the ArcGIS Server JavaScript API course gets much more in-depth than they often do.  I really liked the recommended reading, they helped expand the terms being covered in lecture to concrete examples that could be related back to my work more directly instead of just having the lecture and exercises alone.  I learned a lot andwill recommend this and other GeoSpatial Training courses to the GIS'ers I know. Thanks for putting this course together and offering it ...
