Advanced Cartography with ArcGIS

Introduction

ArcGIS has many powerful tools for maintaining and analyzing data. The results of these efforts are most ofen presented or shared using a map. Creating an effective map takes time and skill. So to support all of its amazing analytical capability, ArcGIS for Desktop has powerful and advanced cartography tools which give you the ability to create effective maps to display your data and analytical results.

During this two day class, students will review the basic fundamentals associated with creating a map layout. From there they will be introducted to ArcGIS for Desktop’s advanced cartographic functionality including Data Driven Pages, Dynamic Text, Dynamic Labeling, Feature Linked Annotation, and Cartographic Representations.

Target Audience

This intermediate to advanced course is for anyone wishing to learn how to use ArcGIS for Desktop’s advanced tools and techniques to create effective maps for printing or sharing digitally.

Prerequisites and recommendations

Student wishing to take this class should have experience using ArcGIS for Desktop. It is recommended they completed the Introduction to ArcGIS II: Editing & Analysis  or have similar real world experience.

Our live-online classes are conducted from 9:30 – 5:00 each day.  Classes are delivered via GoToTraining.  You will receive an email containing login instructions for the GoToTraining session on the Wednesday before class begins.

Upcoming Sessions

Our instructor guided, online classes are conducted through our online training platform.  All lectures are pre-recorded so that you can progress through the materials at your own pace.  The same applies to the exercises.  You will have access to the instructor via email, phone, or chat if you have questions or problems.  The instructor will be in weekly contact with the students in each class session.  Our goal is to get everyone through the materials during the session dates. However, access to the course materials never expires so if you don’t finish during the session dates you will still have access to the materials.
